SUMMARY:Georgia Chapter Educational Meeting (November 14, 2025)
DESCRIPTION:Registration Open\nCourse Title – Prefabricated Wall Panel Systems\nCourse Description – Prefabricated wall panels have become an increasingly common option for constructing exterior wall systems. These systems range from back-up panels (metal studs, exterior sheathing and waterproofing; AWB/WRB) to completed wall panels with finished Exterior Insulation Finishing Systems (EIFS) or Masonry Veneer Exterior System (MVES). While prefabricating wall panels provides numerous benefits including increased quality control and construction speed, prefabrication is not an ideal solution for all buildings. This program will discuss which types of buildings and structures are best suited for prefabricated wall panels. The principle of prefabrication will be included in this program along with lessons learned from a contractor’s perspective.\nCourse Objectives – \n\nOBJECTIVE ONE – Define prefabricated panelized walls.\nOBJECTIVE TWO – Compare varying types of prefabricated wall panels.\nOBJECTIVE THREE – Summarize the principal characteristics of prefabricated wall panels.\nOBJECTIVE FOUR – Evaluate strategies to determine if prefabricated wall panels are appropriate for a given project.\n\nCourse Presenter – Mr. Lee Cope, PE – Vice President – Southern Wall Systems (SWS)\nMr. Cope is a licensed Professional Engineer who has extensive experience in detailing and proper installation of portland cement plaster (stucco) and Exterior Insulation Finishing System (EIFS) facade systems, air barriers, window systems, waterproofing, and the interfaces of various envelope components. From May of 1999 to March of 2018 Mr. Cope worked at Wiss, Janney, Elstner where he evaluated a variety of structures relating to water intrusion and to the cause and/or distress of a building’s exterior facade/curtain wall systems and building envelope systems. Since March of 2018, Mr. Cope has led the Restoration Division of Southern Wall Systems where he has overseen the Preconstruction and Operations of all of their Restoration Work. Since then, Southern Wall Systems has completed over $152 Million worth of Restoration Work. This work has consisted of reclads (stucco, EIFS, Masonry, and Hardie Cement Siding), waterproofing and structural repairs.\nHe is a voting member of ASTM Committee C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems.\nDate – November 14, 2025\nTime – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm\nLocation – Maggiano’s, Cumberland Mall\nCost – $50.00 per person\nThis event is at capacity and is closed for registration\n
